We are pleased to announce that two of our 8th grade students, Mary Grace and Alexander, are the recipients of the Catholic Community Foundation's Christian Service Award. The Catholic Community Foundation annually awards an $8,000 scholarship ($2,000 per year) toward a Catholic high school tuition to students demonstrating Catholic values and a Christ-centered love for others through service to parish, school and community. This is the 12th year that the Catholic Community Foundation has provided these scholarships, and the 6th time that a Christ the King student has received this honor.
A total of 114 students applied for the award, and 23 students from Catholic schools across the valley received this scholarship. Applicants were required to submit an application, service records of volunteer time, an essay, and three reference letters. All students who completed applications were then interviewed by the Awards Committee.
The Catholic Community Foundation is a huge supporter of Catholic education. In addition to the annual scholarship opportunity and an annual grant opportunity to Catholic schools, they also administer four endowments for our school, shrine and parish that will help ensure the future of our community for many years to come. For information on how to contribute to one of our endowments, or more information on the Christian Service Award, please contact the school at 480-844-4480 or go online to

Academic Achievements!

Congratulations to Taylor in 8th Grade!  She has advanced to the Finals of the Arizona Grammar Bowl!  She is now one of 24 students who will participate in oral grammar contests on Saturday, April 14, at Grand Canyon University.  With this win, she receives a $200 gift card.  With each round she advances in the Finals, she can win even more prizes! Let's wish her luck in the Finals!

Alexander in 7th Grade competed in the Arizona State Geography Bee last Friday.  He completed 6 rounds and was a finalist from his group.  Although not one of the top ten, he did a wonderful job representing CTK in the Bee.  Congratulations!
