Faith development is one of the most important things we do for our children when choosing a Catholic education. We partner with you in the faith formation of your child. Every aspect of the day, from the greeting in the morning to the farewell in the afternoon, revolves around our Catholic faith and the teachings of Jesus. To increase our young students’ understanding of their Catholic faith, the Pre-K class attends atrium each week for the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd program. In this program, led by a specialist, the children come to understand the Catholic faith at their level through hands-on activities. PreKindergarten students also attend the school mass each week beginning in early November.
Social and emotional growth is a vital element of the PreK experience to ensure love of school for future school success. Christ the King Prekindergarten teachers support the development of a child’s ability to self-regulate. The curriculum includes daily activities that teach socially appropriate behavior and nurture thinking and focus.
Each day, the children participate in a variety of activities that center on reading, writing, math, science, music, sensory, and dramatic play. The year begins with All About Me, Family and Friends, and Community Helpers. An alphabet letter each week provides the framework for language and literacy development. Additionally, the reading-readiness program, Happily Ever After, teaches oral language and vocabulary, listening skills, following directions, and fine motor skills. This series begins in PreK and continues through second grade with each year building upon the skills learned in the previous year.
As part of Christ the King’s school-wide commitment to the development of the whole-child, our program also includes time in the computer lab, library, P.E., and music.
We offer a full-day or half-day option; both programs begin at 8:00. The full day finishes at 2:50 Monday through Thursday. Friday is an early release at 1:20. The half-day program finishes at 11:30 every day. The cost for full day is $4,634 and $3,476 for half-day per year. If you are new to the school, there is an application fee of $50 per child and a non-refundable registration fee of $225 per family.
Full-time students have the option of bringing a lunch from home or purchasing a lunch in the cafeteria. Snacks are served each day and are provided by the parents on a rotating basis. Parents are asked to bring in snack for all the students for a full week at a time.
Children in the Pre-K program wear a uniform. The students wear t-shirts with the Christ the King logo.
