Arizona Music and Fine Arts is pleased to offer classes in Band at Christ the King School! The 2019-20 school year is the 28th year of this very successful Music program. Mr. Ray Nelson directs.
Classes Offered
Beginning Band: Offered to students 4th grade and higher. Emphasis is placed on note reading and proper fundamentals of the student’s chosen instrument. No prior musical experience is necessary! Students have their choice of the following band instruments: clarinet, flute, saxophone, snare drum, trombone and trumpet. Instruments will need to be either rented or purchased. The Beginning Band will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:20 to 12:50.
Advanced Band: Offered to any student who has successfully completed one year of class or who has had private music instruction. Continued work on fundamentals as well as an increased emphasis on group playing. The Advanced Band will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:50 to 1:20.

About Mr. Nelson
Mr. Nelson received a BA in Music Education from San Diego State University and a Masters Degree in Trumpet Performance from Arizona State University where he taught Education Classes, Trumpet, and Brass Ensembles. A sought after teacher and clinician, Mr. Nelson has over 29 years teaching experience (25 as a Band Director). An accomplished performer, Mr. Nelson has recorded for motion picture, television, and radio. Having toured nationally for six years with Esteban, Mr. Nelson ‘s performance credits also include the San Diego Symphony (one year), the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, The Manhattan Transfer, The Temptations, The Miracles, Doc Severensen, Peaches & Herb, Manheim Steamroller, Fiesta Brass and Pazport.
